To strengthen our civil society projects in Syria and outreach in Germany, we are looking for a passionate and committed new member of our team to manage and coordinate projects inside Syria and to support our daily work.

Adopt a Revolution (AaR) is a small Berlin-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) supporting civil society activities in Syria. We are working with Syrian activists, trying to overcome dictatorship and jihadist terror, and building a democratic, pluralistic society based on human and minority rights. To that aim, Adopt a Revolution is currently working with more than 40 civil society groups in all different regions of Syria, organising solidarity work in Germany and fundraising for these groups.

Currently, we intend to intensify our project work inside Syria and aim at strengthening our outreach in Germany. For that we are looking for a Project Officer to join our team as soon as possible.

The focus of your tasks would be the management of small and middle size projects in Syria, including, but not limited to:

  • Managing and coordinate Syria projects according to AaR guidelines and third party funding guidelines
  • Identifying potential project partners and projects inside Syria
  • Writing reports on the activities of our civil society partners
  • Carrying out various administrative aspects related to Syria projects
  • Regular and close communication with activists in all different regions of Syria
  • Analyse and contextualize developments on the ground in Syria

Ideally, you have the following skills and experience:

  • Proven project management experience
  • Good contacts with civil opposition movement in Syria
  • High motivation to support civil society activities in Syria
  • Excellent knowledge of current developments in Syria
  • Strong strategic, analytic and political thinking
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in drafting texts in Arabic and English – German would be an advantage
  • Fluent in Arabic and very good in English or German
  • Computer literacy: office programs, social media, internet
  • Strong teamwork skills, comfortable in a highly collaborative team culture
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and reliable while being flexible and capable of working under pressure when necessary
